LockNFlate XL Locking Air Chucks for Large Bore Tire Valves (Open Flow & Closed Flow – LNL65021-BSPT & LNL65022-BSPT) - Troubleshooting
Heavy-duty LockNFlate® XL tire chucks designed for large bore (VG12/12V1) Schrader-type valves on big equipment. These right-angle locking air chucks feature a ~4″ extended nose for deep wheel recesses and six hardened steel jaws that lock onto “big bore” valve stems. Two models are offered – an Open-Flow and a Closed-Flow version – both with 1/4″ BSPT threaded inlets for compatibility with regional air hose standards (functionally identical to the 1/4″ NPT U.S. models). Once clamped on, the chuck creates a secure, leak-free connection and allows hands-free, high-volume tire inflation up to 250 PSI.
- Attaching the Chuck
- Fully depress the thumb lever
- Push chuck onto the large bore valve stem until fully seated
- Release lever to lock jaws onto valve threads
- Air Leakage
- Usually indicates the chuck is not fully latched
- Remove and reattach with firm pressure until lock engages
- Detaching the Chuck
- Always press the thumb lever to retract jaws before removing
- Lever safely vents trapped air
- Can release cleanly even with up to 250 PSI residual pressure
- Airflow Issues
- Confirm correct model is being used:
- Open‑Flow on direct air lines will bleed air continuously (normal)
- Closed‑Flow on controlled inflators will block air until engaged (normal)
- Confirm correct model is being used:
- Valve Core Considerations
- Open‑Flow models typically do not depress valve cores
- For fastest inflation, valve cores are often removed in large‑tire service
- To inflate through an installed valve core, use the Closed‑Flow model
- Cleaning & Lubrication
- Keep chuck clean in dusty or harsh environments
- Periodically apply light oil or penetrating lubricant to jaw collar and internals
- Cycle thumb lever during lubrication to flush debris
- Disassembly Warning
- Do not disassemble the chuck
- No user‑serviceable internal parts
- Storage
- Protect from dirt and moisture when not in use
- Use a rubber cap or store hose end in a clean location
- Summary
- Minimal maintenance required
- Cleaning and light lubrication ensure long service life
